Got a call earlier by a concerned Sierra Leonean about an article on the Washington post on the MATERNAL MORTALITY in our homeland. After I hang up I visited the site with my iphone and was able to locate the article. It is really sad that 1 out of 8 women die giving birth. That sound like an epidemic to me. But with very few doctors and nurses and lack of adequate medical equipment/facilities then nothing should really surprise anyone.

MATERNAL MORTALITY Saffie Kallon grieves in Freetown, Sierra Leone, after leaving the hospital where her daughter Adama Sannoh passed away last week while giving birth. In the impoverished country, where there are not enough decent hospitals, childbirth kills one in eight women.
